College Football Championship: Early Odds for 2024 Season

[ad_1]

While the end of March Madness brings a period of calm to sports betting on college sports, the chaos in the NCAA continues to percolate. The demise of the Pac-12 is not likely to be the last seismic change as both Florida State and Clemson have sued to get out of their contracts with the ACC for media rights through 2036. If the Seminoles and the Tigers leave for one of the other power conferences, it will be interesting to see how long the rest of the ACC can stay together. Without true football powerhouses left in the conference, joining forces with the Big 12, which is also top-heavy in basketball but on the weak side in football could be an option. Going into the late spring, though, let’s look at the sports betting odds for the contenders (+10000 or better) to win the next College Football Championship, as well as some insights on top teams.

Early College Football Championship Odds for 2024-25 Season

  • Ohio State Buckeyes +450
  • Texas Longhorns +800

Win Big the Next Season with the College Football Championship Lines

Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia has quarterback Carson Beck coming back next year as the Bulldogs look to recover from that season-ending loss in the SEC Championship that somehow sent them all the way out of the top four. Trevor Etienne is transferring in from Florida to provide the Bulldogs a jolt in the running game. Their incoming recruiting class is one of the best in the nation – once again.

Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama will have to replace a number of key players in their secondary. Quarterback Jalen Milroe will have the opportunity to play a full season as the starter after using the last three-quarters of 2023 to build his confidence and settle into the role. The biggest change will come with new head coach Kalen DeBoer, who came down from Washington after the retirement of Nick Saban. Can DeBoer step into what have to be the biggest shoes in the sport?

Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State might finally be able to stop Michigan now that Jim Harbaugh has left the Wolverines to coach the NFL’s L.A. Chargers. The Buckeyes have a huge hole to fill at quarterback, with Kansas State transfer Will Howard the favorite to slide into the starting role. The Buckeyes do get several of their main defensive contributors back this season.

Michigan Wolverines

Michigan did stop Washington in emphatic fashion in the national championship game. However, they come into 2024 without Harbaugh and without quarterback J.J. McCarthy. The O-line needs a rebuild, as does most of the defense. That’s the problem with winning titles – the players all head to the pro ranks.

Texas Longhorns

Texas looks to have Quinn Ewers back at quarterback, but most of his top targets have moved on. Going to the SEC could lead to major setbacks for the Longhorns, but if they can make it to the conference title game, they would have an excellent resume for CFP selection.

Oregon Ducks

Oregon moves to the Big Ten, and their new quarterback is the ageless Dillon Gabriel, who transferred from Oklahoma with yeat another season of eligibility. Gabriel was able to move the ball well against Big 12 opponents, but we’ll see how he fares against the Michigan and Ohio State defenses.

Ole Miss Rebels

Ole Miss kept quarterback Jaxson Dart and picked up some key contributors via the transfer portal. Last year, the only teams that beat Ole Miss were Alabama and Georgia. The Rebels did not recruit nearly as well as the Tide and the Bulldogs did, so it will take some more terrific scheming from Lane Kiffin to get the Rebels into the CFP.
